From: Stephen Casner Date: Sun 2 Oct 94 17:08:34 PDT Subject: Please don't send administrivia to the list Recipient(s): CASNER@ISI.EDU Reply-To: wg-all-request@rare.nl In Reply To: <9410022122.AA02122@cerc.wvu.edu> _________________________________________________________________ Please! Don't send subscribe or unsubscribe messages to the mm-announcement-list address. Following the convention for many mailing lists, send the requests to mm-announcement-list-request@cs.ucsd.edu I presume the people who are sending subscribe requests are doing so because someone else who is on the list forwarded an interesting announcement to them. If you are that someone else, please forward this message, too, so they know to subscribe to the right place. On the other hand, if you are wondering how you got on this list in the first place, it may be because, in addition to a long list of individual addresses, this list forwards to several other lists including: imaarc@sst.ncsl.nist [these addresses are mm-sig@jnt intentionally truncated wg-all@rare so people don't start mmis@mailbase blindly sending unsubscribe sgml@mailbase messages to them, too.] upturn@rare nossdav-dist@telecomm.hpl iepanel@dcs.glasgow opendoc-interest@cil If you don't like that, send your complaint to the -request address above. Please don't complain to the main list because it just annoys us all, and please don't complain to me because I'm just an unlucky soul who happens to get at least two copies of every message sent to this list. -- Steve Casner [Note that my message was Bcc'd to the mm-announcement-list so that if people reply to this message despite my pleas to the contrary, the replies won't go to the list. I also recommend this practice to the people who post the original announcements to avoid the problem of subscribe/unsubscribe followups.] -------
